Martougin is a piece of Antwerp chocolate history. Chocolaterie Modèle was founded in 1902 by Alfred Martougin and, a few years later, settled into a former tannery on Helmstraat in Borgerhout. Over the years, the company launched several well-known chocolate brands, including Jemma, Laita, Galba and Minerva. After Martougin had long disappeared from view, Antwerpen Koekenstad brought the brand back to life in 2019. The classic Minerva and Bloc tablets returned, initially in limited quantities, and by 2023 these Antwerp chocolate classics had firmly reclaimed their place on the market.
